Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt signed an agreement to end their more than eight-year divorce battle on December 30.
According to People on December 31 , Mr. James Simon – the star’s lawyer said: “Angelina and her children gave up all of their shared assets with Brad Pitt because they wanted to find peace and healing for their family. This is just part of a process that began eight years ago. She is exhausted but relieved that this is finally over.”
A source close to Jolie said: “She doesn’t speak ill of her ex-husband in public or behind his back, trying to stay positive after a dark period.” Brad Pitt’s representative has refused to confirm or comment.

Angelina Jolie , 49, and Brad Pitt , 61, first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), when the actor was married to Jennifer Aniston. After Mr. and Mrs. Smith , the two went public with their relationship, got married in 2014, and together raised six children, three adopted and three biological.
On September 19, 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences between the couple. Jolie accused Brad Pitt of abusing her and her children on a private flight a few days earlier. The FBI investigated and concluded that the actor had not committed any acts of violence. Angelina Jolie was not satisfied with the results and continued to file a lawsuit against the FBI in 2022. At the end of September, international news sites reported that the star had filed a motion to stop the lawsuit.

In addition to abuse, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have also been constantly fighting over many other issues. Most recently, there was a dispute over property shares in France and the issue of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). In 2022, Pitt sued his ex-wife for secretly selling ownership of the Château Miraval vineyard – where the two held their wedding in 2014 – to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler for $67 million. Since then, both sides have repeatedly criticized the ex-wife in court for using NDAs to hide wrongdoings during and after the marriage. It is currently unclear how the divorce agreement affects the lawsuit.
On November 8, Brad Pitt “won a major victory in his estate lawsuit.” The judge rejected Angelina Jolie’s request when she objected to the accusation of breach of contract of business by her ex-husband. On November 25, Angelina Jolie received a favorable judgment in the domestic violence lawsuit because the judge ordered Pitt to disclose all documents that Jolie’s side requested. On the other hand, Jolie has made moves to stop the legal battle all this time. In July, she asked Pitt to withdraw the lawsuit for the sake of the family.
Regarding their children, the couple fought for custody but Brad Pitt lost. Currently, all five children have chosen to side with their mother and have taken steps to drop their father’s surname. The youngest child – Knox Jolie-Pitt, 16 – has not yet expressed his stance.
