On August 29, Angelina Jolie attended an event to promote her film Maria . The beauty wore a Tamara Ralph dress, combined with a faux fur scarf. The highlight of the outfit was the brooch of Maria Callas – the opera icon she played in the film.
According to People , many of the famous opera singer’s brooches are in the Cartier archives. Massimo Cantini Parrini – Maria ‘s costume designer – worked with the jeweler to borrow the pieces during filming. According to Jolie, she wanted to pay tribute to Callas both on screen and on the red carpet.
The Rose Ouvrante brooch was created in 1972 and features a flower-shaped design set with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. The design opens and closes like a blooming flower.
Earlier, at the press conference, she wore a 1971 Cartier Panthère brooch featuring a golden panther, emerald eyes and white gemstones. Jolie said the brooch also appeared in the film Maria . “You can’t imagine how special it would be to wear a piece of her jewelry,” the actress told People .
The 81st Venice Film Festival runs from August 28 to September 7. In addition to Jolie, the red carpet also featured supermodel Eva Herzigova in a design by Etro x Wolford.
