Actress Angelina Jolie has dropped her lawsuit asking the FBI to provide information about Brad Pitt’s investigation into domestic violence on a plane in 2016.
International news sites reported that Angelina Jolie used the name Jane Doe – a name often used to replace the real identity of women in accusations – to file a lawsuit against the Department of Justice and the FBI on September 25, two years after filing the lawsuit. Documents obtained by ET News clearly state that each party will bear their own legal costs. The star has not yet commented on this information.

The lawsuit began with an altercation on a flight from Europe to Los Angeles in September 2016. Angelina Jolie accused her ex-husband Brad Pitt of abusing her and their children on a private plane, causing “lasting physical and emotional trauma.” The FBI got involved but ended its investigation in November 2016. “We reviewed the facts and decided to stop,” an FBI spokesperson said.

Angelina Jolie first filed a complaint against the FBI under the name Jane Doe in April 2022. Through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the star wanted FBI data about the investigation six years ago because, according to her, it was necessary information for her children’s health care and mental health treatment. At the time, many believed that Jolie’s main goal was to seek information that was detrimental to Brad Pitt in order to win custody of the children.

Despite Angelina Jolie’s move to stop seeking information, the divorce lawsuit of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” is not over. The couple is currently embroiled in a dispute over shares of the Château Miraval vineyard in France after Brad Pitt accused his ex-wife of secretly selling the property to a Russian tycoon for $67 million in 2022. Since then, the two sides have continuously fought each other, accusing the ex of using a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to hide wrongdoing during and after the marriage.
In late July, the 49-year-old beauty said that her ex-husband had forced her to sign an $ 8.5 million NDA to keep his violent past private. She also asked Brad Pitt to make public the information he provided to third parties about the 2016 altercation. Pitt’s side rejected the request, claiming that Jolie had invaded her privacy, and argued that the information Jolie wanted was unrelated to the estate dispute.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), when the actor was married to Jennifer Aniston. After Mr. and Mrs. Smith , the two went public with their relationship, got married in 2014, and together raised six children, including three adopted and three biological.
In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, using the date of the plane crash as the date of separation. Both fought for custody of their children, but Brad Pitt lost. To date, most of their children have sided with Jolie, except for 16-year-old Knox, who has yet to express his opinion on the tension between his parents.
