The pilot’s heartbreaking message before the tragic Air India crash has emerged.

A recent aviation tragedy has once again shocked the world. The  crash of an Air India flight that occurred on Thursday, June 12, has left an entire nation in mourning. While the investigation continues, the pilot’s final words , uttered in a desperate attempt to alert the control tower,  have been revealed  .

The flight, identified as  AI171 , had taken off from Ahmedabad Airport with  242 people on board , including  passengers and crew . The aircraft, a  Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner , lost contact just  30 seconds after takeoff , triggering an immediate alarm among aviation authorities. Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed that the plane had  crashed near the airport , triggering an urgent mobilization of emergency services.

According to information provided by Air India, the disaster left a  death toll of 241 , including  169 Indian citizens ,  53 British citizens ,  7 Portuguese citizens  and  1 Canadian citizen . The sole survivor has been identified as  Vishwash Kumar Ramesh , a 40-year-old British citizen who was miraculously rescued alive and is  in intensive care .

Among the details that have emerged in recent hours, one of the most shocking has been the content of the  emergency message issued by the lead pilot ,  Sumeet Sabharwal , before the aircraft hit the ground. The recording reveals a  “Mayday” call , in which the pilot is heard reporting:  “Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to take off .” This phrase reflects the  critical moment  the crew was going through, unable to control the aircraft.

Sabharwal had  over 8,200 flight hours , a considerable amount of experience in commercial aviation. His co-pilot,  Clive Kundar , also participated in the attempt to control the situation and had  accumulated 1,100 flight hours . Both were considered  highly trained professionals , leading experts to focus on other possible factors, such as  mechanical failure  or  structural problems  with the plane.

It’s worth noting that this incident marks the  first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner , a modern aircraft previously considered one of the safest in its category. The  official investigation  is ongoing, and further clarification is expected in the coming days through analysis of the  black boxes  recovered from the crash site.

Another aspect that has caused great consternation is that the plane crashed into a  university dormitory  housing medical students. Although the exact number of casualties has not yet been released,  casualties have also been reported among the building’s residents , further exacerbating the tragedy.

For its part,  Air India  issued a statement expressing its  condolences to the families of the victims and reiterating its commitment to transparency during the investigation. The airline also assured that it is providing psychological and logistical support to the families of those affected.

The news has sparked  international reactions , especially due to the presence of passengers of various nationalities. Authorities in  the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Canada  have also commented on the incident, requesting detailed reports and expressing their solidarity with the families of the deceased.

This tragic event reopens the debate on  aviation safety protocols , even on state-of-the-art aircraft. Meanwhile, the entire world remains attentive to the progress of the investigation and the possible measures that can be taken to  prevent similar incidents in the future .
